"The Lost Art of Taking Him at His Word"

I chose this book because I absolutely love God's Word, and wanted to understand more about His promises for us, and how to pray over them. This book looks like a quick read from the outside, as it's only 110 pages. Yet, the content inside is a treasure trove, insisting that you spend quality time within each page, breaking down and boldly studying the information. Yeakley devotes an entire chapter to teaching the reader how to plead God's promises. In the final chapter you will even get a deeper knowledge of Abraham and his willingness to trust the promises God gave him. The back of the book includes an Appendix which lays out the different topics of God's promises and the book, chapter and verse on where they are to be found for our own study into the promises. Although this book is short and has good information, the writing is very text-booky and dry. This book appeals to the rationale and deep intellect. This is not written as much of the most popular Christian books are today with wit, humor and catchy life-stories. This book has meat and substance without thrills, and can tend to be a tedious read. I recommend this book for men and women 18 and up.
